FORVIA's Type 4 Multicavity hydrogen storage system represents a significant advancement in hydrogen storage technology for mobility, designed for higher storage efficiency and cost effectiveness, with no compromise on safety, and higher sustainability in relation to the evolution of regulations.
Our multicavity tank storage system comprises several type 4 composite vessels connected together and one single upstream on-tank valve, managing the opening and closure of the system. The multicavity hydrogen storage system is safety compliant with GTR13 Phase 2 and offers cost savings of up to 20%, through the rationalization of auxiliaries and shorter pipping lines.
This new storage solution enables a CO2 emission reduction of 40% and a minimum of 11% weight savings. The tanks are made of a lightweight, thin but high-strength composite carbon fiber, to maximize hydrogen storage capacity while minimizing vehicle weight. For OEMs, this technology offers a plug-and-play solution with modularity and flexibility, compatible with under-floor installation. For end users, it offers a convenient and more affordable zero-emissions vehicle, compatible with intensie use, including fast refueling in less than five minutes, meaning a refilling 5 times faster than a BEV and a range 20% greater.
